Petina Gappah fick mycket uppmärksamhet för novellsamlingen ”Sorgesång för Easterly” som gavs ut i svensk översättning 2010. I hennes första roman är ambitionen hög, måhända för hög. ”Memorys bok” är en fascinerande roman om ett land som åtminstone jag vet alldeles för lite om, men det är som om Petina Gappah vill pressa in flera romaner i en enda bok.
